Restoring the bath wing of the main building

During 2006 a project started, an open labour yard, with the objective to restore the bath wing of the main building.

Project pending: the construction of a pottery in cooperation with Axell Communication in the light of their documentary «Les derniers Romains» or rather 'The last Romans'.

Beginning July 2006 start of the works at the bath chambers!

The first phase in creating temporary workshops, traditional techniques are used....

The first quarry dates from Monday 3 July 2006. The preparing work for the wooden workshop was established with the help of several teams of scouts, under supervision of our architect Jean-Martin Sansen.

The carpenter's workshop is in preparation. Volunteers of the Compagnons bâtisseurs and SCI-International projects have worked on a frame, which will be realised according traditional techniques.

At the occasion of the August party at 1 October 2006, a partition wall of plaster mortar was built with the help of some pioneers. A colourful happening to finish this first year of working.

Our workshop project was developed by Christian Limbrée and Stéphanie Bonato through an exchange of thoughts as announced in 'Why constructing a Gallic Roman bath house at present?' and organised by the association 'Musea and community in Wallonie' in cooperation with the 'Quebec Association of Musea' (Beez, 24-27 October 2006)

Construction workshop: Appeal to volunteers

As you most probably know, our yard has started last year with the preparations of a first workshop. Four others will be remaining, which we would like to finish this year.

WE COULD USE SOME HELP

We appeal for your help in order to get these 4 workshops realised. It concerns tough and serious work (pavement, foundation, building walls, hammering, plaster work, ...).

Whether you are a construction worker or a carpenter, or a dedicated do-it-yourself type, your experience and motivation will be our inspiration! Should you have the time and knowledge and you would like to join us, please do not hesitate! Beginning of April we will be starting again and we count on you!
