Natural heritage

Take a look around you; Malagne’s natural surroundings haven’t really changed that much since the Antiquity!

Malagne is located in a quite spectacular and indeed, quite special area known as the Calestienne. The area enjoys a milder climate than the neighbouring Ardennes, and is home to countless caves and caverns (Han-sur-Lesse, Rochefort, Hotton, Remouchamps…).

The estate of Malagne is located on a calcareous soil, called the ‘Gerny’, that overhangs the Lomme river.

A wood that didn’t exist in Gallo-Roman times, now borders the site.
